Discover new space during the Rotterdamse Dakendagen 2021
This year from 4 to 6 June the Rotterdamse Dakendagen (Rotterdam Rooftopdays) are all about discovering new space. Now that parks and nature reserves seem overcrowded, the roof landscape can provide much-needed space for residents and visitors to the city.
Lift your city walk to a higher level
Walking has currently become the number one (inter)national sport. Everyone wants to go outside, nature reserves count more visitors than ever, and in cities the parcs became overcrowded. But, on the rooftops there is still space, and we would love to use that space. How nice is it, to roam the rooftops of Rotterdam and discover the city and new ways of using rooftops? On 5 and 6 June, Rotterdamse Dakendagen (Rotterdam Rooftopdays) will organise a programme of Rooftop Walks in which the public takes routes across several rooftops of the city, in pairs. From large flat city rooftops to hidden private roof terraces. If we are allowed to get together in (small) groups again, we will also organise Specials with performances, poetry, music and film screenings on rooftops.
International Knowledge Day
On Friday June 4, the annual Knowledge Day takes place. An in-depth programme for professionals and rooftop enthusiasts. The day starts with the first Rooftop Farmers Congress, organised together with Rotterdams Milieucentrum (Environtmental Centre Rotterdam). The audience can participate in informal Lunch Workshops, guided by international experts. Together with AIR the event TOP^ will be organised. TOP^ covers keynotes about the latest rooftop developments and discussions between architects and policy makers from Rotterdam and their international colleagues about ‘the layered city’.
