On Sunday, June 25, stair climbers will be available to make part of the floating festival center wheelchair accessible. Do you use a wheelchair or have difficulty walking? The stair climber will allow you to visit part of the festival heart during these hours.

About the festival heart

The floating festival heart is a temporary intervention consisting of three floating barges in the Maashaven. The barges are connected by stairs made of scaffolding material creating a walking route through the three barges. The route ends with an elongated walkway from barge 3 to the exit, from which you have a view of all three barges. In total, these stairs count nearly 300 steps, making the festival center in general unsuitable for those with mobility or wheelchair disabilities.

Alternative route

On Sunday, June 25, there is access to an alternative route through the use of stair climbers. You go up using the stair climber at the exit, this takes you directly onto the walkway and gives you a view of the three barges. You traverse the walkway in the stair climber itself. At the end of the walkway, you can take the stair climber down to view the outdoor exhibit “Wet City” and bin 3. A volunteer will take your wheelchair or walker to bin 3, then you can view the expo there on your own. You will return by the same route. It is necessary to book a ticket in advance for those who will be using the stair climber, book your time slot here.

• The stair climbers are not suitable for people with an electric wheelchair.
• We recommend that you bring a companion with you as you will need to be moved from the wheelchair to the stair climber and back again. Volunteers are available for additional support.
• You may bring 2 companions for free, additional people can book their own time slot through this link.
• It is necessary to book a specific wheelchair access ticket in advance via the ticket link below for the person who will be using the stair climber.
• The stair climber provides access to the walkway and bin 3 (outdoor exhibition). There is no access to bin 1 (park & eventspace) and bin 2 (urban sports).
• A wheelchair accesible toilet is available in the Maassilo.
