After almost 15 years of working in Flemish cities, De Nijl Architecten looks back on their work; what has been learned from Flemish architectural practice and what are the lessons that we take with us in our Dutch urban planning and architecture projects? As a visitor you travel through time through almost 15 years of designing and building Flemish social housing.
Working together on the city
De Nijl Architecten works together with others on the sustainable improvement and renewal of the existing city. They do this by connecting strategies for change with concrete projects: city architecture. They love the city with all its different places and customs. For the vitality of the city, it is necessary to refurbish, adapt or renew buildings, locations or areas. De Nijl Architecten combines architecture, urban planning and urban studies. They create recognizable places, well connected to their environment. Their buildings are light and open, firmly anchored in tradition.
