Symposium
Symposium Women in Architecture 2025
Two years after the Symposium Women in Architecture and the publication Women in Architecture, the theme will be continued. As part of the Rotterdam Year of Women 2025, nai010 uitgevers, Nieuwe Instituut and AIR are organizing a new symposium on Friday, June 27, during Rotterdam Architecture Month.
This edition will focus on current developments and future perspectives. Focusing on research, archiving, visibility and practice, we will explore actions and strategies to strengthen the position of women in architecture in lectures, panel discussions, tours and workshops.
About the Symposium
Catherine Koekoek opens the program with a lecture in which she underscores the need to permanently put the position of women in architecture on the agenda. Two panel discussions will then take place, led by moderator Dore van Duivenbode. The first panel The Practice reflects on contemporary practice and the status quo with Liesbeth van der Pol, Oana Radeş, Inez Tan and Bethel Lemma-Sanders. The second panel The Narrative focuses on the visibility of women: how can new forms of research, representation and archiving contribute to a more inclusive architectural narrative? with Sofie de Caigny, Merel Pit, Sofie van Brunschot and Mark Minkjan. Various workshops and tours will be held in the afternoon.
