Circular RE-sidency in M4H
Design as a driving Force for circular area development
Commissioned by Rotterdam Circulair, Studio Ester van de Wiel, Catherine Visser (DaF Architects), and the Dutch Design Foundation have explored the role that Circular RE-sidency could play within the area development of M4H. How can such an initiative be shaped and implemented? What challenges does it address, and what opportunities does it create? And how can a circular residency serve as a connector between designers, makers, developers, knowledge institutions, and public-sector organizations?
During this event, we will share the key findings of the research and engage in a conversation about the impact of design as a catalyst for Rotterdam’s circular transition. Through inspiring case studies, we will explore how design, material flows, and new forms of collaboration can reinforce one another. How can these qualities be elevated through strong commissioning and client leadership? And what potential does this hold at a larger scale and over the long term?
We will also look ahead: what is needed to make a Circular RE-sidency in M4H a reality? What roles can public and private stakeholders play? And how can we collectively build a network that supports and enables experimentation, innovation, and circular development?
If you are interested in these topics, or think you could be part of this growing network, we would be delighted to welcome you.
