Schiehaven Noord will become ‘Paris Prooftuin’, a learning area for climate-proof urban development in line with the Green Deal and the Paris Agreement. But what will be the significance of this new part of the city? A separate island or a green, social bridge between Schiemond and the Lloydpier?

In collaboration with residents and other stakeholders, the municipality has established ten goals for the development of Schiehaven Noord. The most notable of these is the designation of the quay strip between Schiemond and Lloydpier as a Paris Prooftuin. Here, we are learning how to design and implement sustainable area development in line with Europe’s Green Deal and the Paris Climate Agreement’s 2050 objectives.

The question is what significance this new part of the city will have for its surroundings and for the city as a whole. Will it be a beautiful, self-contained island surrounded by others, or can it be a successful green and social bridge between them?
