Day and Night of Architecture
Experience Rotterdam’s architecture from sunrise to late at night
Day and Night of Architecture in Rotterdam unfolds as a celebration of both the city’s newest additions and its celebrated classics. From sunrise to late into the night, experience Rotterdam’s architecture through an inspiring programme across the city – revealing itself differently every hour of the day. Architects, residents and creative makers guide visitors through the city from unexpected perspectives – think tours, workshops, in-depth conversations and performances.
At every moment of the day, Rotterdam offers a different experience. Discover the newest high-rises in the city centre with C93, POST and the Baantoren, while also stepping inside the tiny luxury apartment The Cabanon: a home of just 7 m². Join architects for coffee in their own homes for a unique behind-the-scenes glimpse: Robert Winkel at the Schiecentrale, Enzo Valerio at Studio Playtime, or explore the Huis aan de Maas together with Marco Vermeulen and Joyce Langezaal. Beyond the city centre, surprising projects will also open their doors that day, including the Plaswijckpark pavilion, the luxurious residential buildings at Landgoed de Hoven, and the circular hub De HER.
In the evening, the classics come to life through film, dance and music. Alongside modern icons such as Huis Sonneveld and the Van Nelle Factory, special attention is given to the classics on the South Bank. The monumental, still-operating Dossche Mills factory at Maashaven and recent high-rises such as De Rotterdam reveal the transformation of this part of the city. From the rooftop terrace of the World Port Center, you can experience the sunset at dusk with sweeping views, while hearing the stories behind Rotterdam’s origins as a city on the river.
