Debate: The future is near

On June 6, De Zwarte Hond is organizing a panel evening that focuses on the theme of ‘proximity’.

With the publication of its latest bookazine OutThere #5, design agency De Zwarte Hond advocates a coherent approach to all major challenges that are (or should be) high on the social agenda. The aim is to create a livable and sustainable future for our cities and villages; not only for ourselves but also for future generations and all living things. The development of station areas plays a crucial role in this.

Program

After a short presentation by Daan Zandbelt (urban planner, architect and partner at De Zwarte Hond), two panel discussions will delve deeper into the central theme: ‘proximity’.

In the first panel discussion, Linda Zuijderwijk (urban sociologist), Mathijs van Ruijven (Head Urban Planner at the Municipality of Rotterdam) and Michiel Van Driessche (partner and landscape architect at Felixx Landscape Architects & Planners) focus on the specific Rotterdam context of the theme.

For the second conversation, Anita de Haas (Spoorpark Tilburg Foundation), Maurits Schaafsma (planologist and urban planner at the municipality of Haarlemmermeer), Job Posner (regional manager Zuid-West NL at Synchroon) and Maarten Van Acker (professor of Urban Planning, Urban Development Research Group at the University of Antwerp) zoom out and express and reflect on the theme in an (inter)national context.

Together with these table guests, we discuss why it is important to tackle social challenges integrally, how we can achieve this and what makes station areas crucial in the playing field of inner-city development.

After the conversations there will be an opportunity to chat.
