Ebb and flow | Designing tidal city
Talks, walk & workshop

What happens to the city when the sea level rises? What will the future riverbanks look like? And how does the ecology of tidal nature fit into a port city like Rotterdam? Discover the answers to these questions during a diverse afternoon program with talks, a walk and workshop at the Rotterdam Architecture Month.
Get inspired by short presentations where designers and artists share their vision on water in the city. Then, embark on a boat trip from Maashaven to the Island of Brienenoord, where you will explore the unique features of the tidal landscape through a guided walk and engage in hands-on activities. Afterwards, there will be a networking session to exchange knowledge and experiences.
Workshop
After a brief tour of the island, the findings will be shared and used to work in groups on a sample project: Where and how can we work on the banks of the Nieuwe Maas in different locations?
OMI, AIR, and Wolbert van Dijk present ‘Eb en Vloed’ (Ebb and Flow) as part of the central theme of the Rotterdam Architecture Month: Wet City.
