Kloofdichters

Who is the city for?

A neighbourhood that is chafing, words that touch. Kloofdichters is an evening full of spoken word, conversations and food with a story. In the middle of Schiemond, where the city changes. Come listen, talk and taste: about who makes the city, and for whom it is.

Poetry that grates and conversations that land. About dreams for your neighborhood. Kloofdichters is a series of evenings where local talent bridges gaps. Between neighborhoods. Between people. Between perspectives. You eat together, you listen together, you talk together. Every edition is different. Every time hits the mark. With this edition spoken word artists Michline Plukken, Luc Howie Duzzith, chef tafelvanzeven and host Daniela Jerez.

Kloofdichters kicks off at a place where things are both tight and bright: Schiemond. In the middle of the neighborhood lies Schiehaven Noord: forgotten for years, now ‘in development’. With sustainable dreams, inclusive ambitions and ‘Paris Proof’ labels. Great. But questions also arise: who is this city actually for? Who will reap the benefits of the development? The residents of Schiemond? Or mainly the parties that benefit from the rising land value?

And yes, OASE also asks itself that question. A neighborhood coffee on the menu is great. And a neighborhood dinner every now and then is fun. But does that really bridge gaps? Or is that a nice story to tell yourself?

That’s why there’s Kloofdichters.

Line-up

The poets featured this evening don’t live in Schiemond—but they know the story all too well. They’ve watched their own neighborhoods change. Areas once called “rough gems,” where they themselves no longer fit once the prices rose and the edges got polished away.

Michline Plukker – As a spoken word artist, she speaks out against inequality in the city. Gentrification has forced her to move more than 25 times—and not because she loves packing boxes. She is ready to resonate.

Luc Howie Duzzith – Luc’s work invites deep reflection, revealing what lies beneath the surface. Sometimes served with a surrealist sauce, sometimes raw and documentary-style.

Food

Tafelvanzeven serves food with a story, straight from their kitchen in Delfshaven. Prepared by women from all corners of the world—women with a love for cooking and a distance from the job market.

Host

Daniela Montoya Jerez – Spoken word queen, literature teacher, poetry machine, cat whisperer. Daniela is the kind of host who instantly makes you feel at home—whether you’re front row or just wandered in. Her warmth is infectious, her words hit deep. No fluff, just poetry.
