A safari in the ‘Tuin van de Wijk’!
Discover native plants and animals in this neighbourhood garden
During Rotterdam Architecture Month, you are invited to visit the ’Tuin van de Wijk’ on Afrikaanderplein in the south of Rotterdam.
This adventurous, extremely compact garden invites visitors to take a closer look at the native plants and animals found in the neighbourhood and explains how they need each other to form an ecosystem together. The garden is not only a nice green place to catch your breath, but also to get to know your surroundings better with an educational programme, a mini library with books on the theme and information boards about the animals and plants found there.
At this event, there will be a talk about the cooperation between many different partners that led to the creation of this place. And you can learn more about how increasing (very local) biodiversity and education on the subject can go hand in hand with climate-adaptive greening of public spaces.
