Discover the Rotterdam post-war construction via tours, building visits and exhibitions. This year the neighbourhood Schiebroek has centre stage, with the opening of the exhibition ‘Schiebroek, van tuinstad tot wederopbouwwijk’ on Sunday the 18th of May. During the Rotterdam Architecture Month several additional activities are organized.

Visit buildings

You can visit buildings during the Open Opbouwdagen, like a visit of the model-dwelling in Westhof Schiebroek Zuid with explanation of the renovation by Steenhuis Bukman Architects on 15 May. Or house Columeta of architect Fledderus on Sunday 18 May (this tour is in English). Or you can visit a former Laboratory Verwey in the Coolhaven, nowadays art platform TENT.

Attend tours

Attend one of the architecture historical tours in Rotterdam, as in Kralingen, Schiebroek or in the Laurenskerk. Or maybe you find it interesten to have a look at the original model of the post-war city by architect Witteveen? Designed during WWII but never executed! Conservator Rob Noordhoek tells everything about this plan and model.

As much as possible the focus is on female architects and artists. In Verhalenhuis you can visit the exhibition about artist Wally Elenbaas through the eyes of three female artists and the lecture in museum Rotterdam focusses on female post-war artists. This lecture is in Dutch.
