Vista IJsselmonde!

This event takes place mostly in Dutch, visit the Dutch version of this page for more information.
On June 18th, Veldacademie, together with nine architecture students from TU Delft, will present their project Design for a Resilient Rotterdam: Unboxing. After a 6-week construction process, we celebrate the opening of the pavilion, built at Herenwaard in IJsselmonde. With this project the students investigate how different communities meet each other in public space. Simultaneously with the opening of the pavilions, a photo exhibition of photos taken by the students of the Olympiacollege will open at the central square. In collaboration with photographer Florian Braakman the scholars go into IJsselmonde in the coming weeks and record their lives on the street.
Pavilion
Unboxing comprises an interactive pavilion located on Herenwaard in IJsselmonde and attempts to bring about spontaneous encounters between different communities. The pavilion attracts the attention of passers-by by using dynamic materials and light colours. The design plays on the curiosity of the visitors and encourages them to enter and discover the designed space. The curiosity of the user is enhanced by unpacking different layers in the design.
Practical information
The pavilions and exhibition open on June 18 at 3 pm. The opening is free of charge, registration is not necessary. We’ll see you at the Herenwaard in IJsselmonde! The pavilions are open daily from June 18.
