Help shape the future development of the Municipality of Rotterdam’s Designers Pool for Real Estate.

One of the key goals of the Designers Pool is to strengthen the local architectural climate. When the Municipality of Rotterdam has a small scale design assignment, it is awarded to one of the designers in the pool. This approach also gives young and talented architects and firms the opportunity to take on small to medium-sized projects, allowing them to gain valuable experience.

In the autumn of 2026, the Municipality of Rotterdam’s Designers Pool will celebrate its second anniversary. The pool operates on an ongoing basis: designers can apply to join at regular intervals, and assignments are continuously awarded. To further improve how the pool functions, the municipality is engaging with the design sector to discuss its performance and potential improvements. During Rotterdam Architecture Month, the municipality, in collaboration with AIR, will organize an evaluation session to gather shared insights. What aspects of the setup could be improved? There is also an ambition to expand the pool and deploy it for other municipal challenges beyond social real estate, as well as to encourage other clients to make use of the pool.

The session will take place on 17 June from 15:30 at the Keilepand. Together with designers and clients, we will reflect on how the Designers Pool has been used and what it has delivered. In an interactive session, participants will share experiences and learn from one another. In this way, we can collectively improve the quality of the pool while also giving successful results the platform they deserve.
