Route through the Museumpark

What is the best time to walk the entire route?

You can walk the entire route from June 1 to 30 during our opening hours:

Tuesday to Sunday 10am – 5pm

Outside these hours, part of the route can be walked, but will be closed:

The exhibition at the traverse is open every day from 8:00 am to 9:00 pm.

How long does it take to complete the entire route through Museumpark?

It will take you about 60 – 90 minutes to complete the entire route. If you also want to visit the exhibition ‘Craving for Boijmans‘, allow an extra 45 minutes.

The route can also be followed outside regular opening hours. Keep in mind that outside these hours some locations will be closed. You can walk the partial route in about 30 minutes.

Can you access the route when it rains?

Yes, it’s no problem to walk the route when it rains. Only in the case of extreme weather conditions an intervention may be closed off.

Does the route have a starting point?

No, the route has no fixed starting point. We do recommend that you purchase a route map for 2.50 euros at the RA Monthly Kiosk or the Henket pavilion in the Museumpark to get the most out of your visit. You will also receive a free scavenger hunt, which gives you the chance to win a great prize! This route map is free for people with a Rotterdampas.

You can also order the map online and (by showing the receipt) pick up later at the kiosk/Henket pavilion.

Where can I find the house rules?

The house rules of the Henket pavilion are:

  • Everyone is welcome
  • Be kind and respectful
  • Children welcome under supervision
  • Assistance dogs are welcome
  • Henket pavilion and museum building are smoke-free, so no e-cigarettes or vapes
  • Jackets and bags allowed at your own risk; there is no wardrobe

Are their any guided tours on the route?

Every Wednesday afternoon we offer guided tours through the Museumpark. Keep an eye on our agenda for where and when you can reserve tickets. Click here to see the agenda.

Accessibility

Is the route through Museumpark wheelchair accessible?
  • The Museumpark, including the Rose Garden, is easily accessible for wheelchairs via the paved path that runs through the park.
  • The Henket pavilion is accessible via a ramp at the side entrance at the Melkkoppad, the rear entrance is not accessible due to stairs.
  • the Bridge is only accessible from the Rose Garden towards the Henket pavilion. Please take unpaved surfaces (grass) into account.
  • The Time Tower in the garden of Huis Sonneveld is only accessible on the ground floor, where the exhibition is also located.
  • The exhibition in the traverse is accessible via an elevator.
Can I bring a pram or a stroller?

Yes, that’s possible.

Can I walk the route when I'm deaf or have impaired hearing?

Yes, the route has very little spoken information so it will hardly effect your experience whilst visiting the festival heart. Keep in mind that during events like lectures, debates or talks there will be no assigned sign interpreter.

Can I walk the route when I'm blind or when I'm visually impaired?

A lot of the information during the route is communicated via text on large beacons. The beacons will have QR codes that will direct you to audiofiles with the information. We do recommend to bring someone with good sight. Also take in account that the route will have both paved and unpaved surfaces.

Can I walk the route when I have difficulty walking?

Yes it’s possible, but do take in account that the route has both paved and unpaved surfaces. We recommend that you take someone who can support you.

Can I walk the route as a highly sensitive person?

The route through the Museumpark is in a public space, which is why we cannot guarantee a low-stimulus experience. There will be a low-stimulus hour in the Henket pavilion on Tuesday, June 4 and Tuesday, June 11 from 10:00 AM to 11:00 AM. You can purchase a ticket here <link>.

Do I need a ticket to walk the route?

No, the route through Museumpark is free for everyone, so you don’t need a ticket. We recommend that you purchase a route map for 2.50 euros at the RA Monthly Kiosk in Museum Park to get the most out of your visit. You will then immediately receive a free scavanger hunt! This route map is free for people with a Rotterdampas.

 

Do I need a ticket to enter the Henket pavilion?

No, the Henket pavilion is part of the route and freely accessible.

Do I need a ticket for 'Craving for Boijmans'?

Yes, for a visit to the exhibition Craving for Boijmans at the Museum Boijmans Van Beuningen you do need a ticket. You can order a ticket via: www.boijmans.nl/tickets.

I would like to attend an event at the Henket pavilion, do I need a ticket?

Yes, you can reserve a ticket via the link at the chosen event.

Where can I buy a route map and scavenger hunt?

You can buy a route map and free accompanying scavenger hunt for 2.50 euros at the RA Month Kiosk in Museum Park and in the Henket pavilion.

You will find the Kiosk at the intersection Jongkindstraat / Museumpark.

I have a Rotterdampas, where can I pick up my route map and scavenger hunt?

With your Rotterdampas you can pick up a free route map and scavenger hunt at the RA Month Kiosk in Museumpark. You will find the Kiosk at the intersection Jongkindstraat / Museumpark.

Can I pay with a creditcard?

We only accept payments with a debit card.

Henket pavilion

Do I need a ticket to enter the Henket pavilion?

No, the Henket pavilion is part of the route and is therefore free to enter.

I would like to attend an event in the Henket pavilion, do I need a ticket?

Yes, you can reserve a ticket for this via the ticket link that you can find at the chosen event.

Where can I find the entrance to the Henket pavilion?

The Henket pavilion is located in the southern wing of Museum Boijmans Van Beuningen, adjacent to the Museum Garden. The entrance can be found on the side of the Museum, located on the Melkkoppad. The entrance can be recognized by a large Rotterdam Architecture Month sign.

Can I bring my pet to the Henket pavilion?

Only service dogs are allowed in the Henket pavilion.

Can I smoke in the Henket pavilion?

No, smoking or vaping is not allowed in the Henket pavilion.

Can I drink alcohol in the Henket pavilion?

No, you are not allowed to drink alcohol during your visit to the Henket pavilion.

Group visits or business related visits

I want to visit RA Month with a group, how do I go about this?
