Exhibition
Holy Houses: exhibition Rotterdam city artists
In 2020 and 2021, the city artists recorded the corona time. What is the impact on the city and on the inhabitants of Rotterdam? The result has been brought together in this exhibition, which can be seen exclusively in the Laurenskerk during Heilige Huisjes Rotterdam. Rotterdam’s urban illustrators record what happens in the city. With their sketchbook or iPad under their arm you can see them wandering through the city. They observe, interrogate, sketch and draw.
The city draftsmanship is an initiative of CBK Rotterdam and the Rotterdam City Archives. Every year they appoint Rotterdam artists and ask them to depict a special theme.
The drawings are included in the collection of the City Archives and are part of the Rotterdam Collection. They are not only artistic impressions, but also time documents with a story. They show Rotterdam through the eyes of artists.
Heilige Huisjes (Holy Houses)
This event is part of Heilige Huisjes Rotterdam, an initiative by the city of Rotterdam and the Kerkvernieuwers. Churches, synagoges, temples and mosques open their doors and provide a wide variety of tours, exhibitions, workshops, talks, music and much more. Click here for the full programme.
