Opening Gore Tengels Kadetuin Schiehavenhal
From empty quay to edible garden — come see it grow
After three years of building, planting and experimenting at Weelde, Gore Tengels is opening a new spot: the Kadetuin at the Schiehaven. An edible garden where you can join in, lend a hand — or just take it all in.
On the quay of Rotterdam’s old Schiehaven, a group of young Rotterdammers is building a garden full of edible plants. Digging, planting, cooking — firing up the mud and ending the day by the fire. In a city where green spaces are rare and food feels anonymous, Gore Tengels brings people together to work the earth and change the city, hands-on.
The kick off of the Kadetuin is on 27 June. From 4:00 PM, you’ll be taken on a tour through the garden. Then it’s time for drinks, music and good company. At 6:00 PM the gates to Rotterdam’s newest green space will officially be opened!
