This year the Rotterdam Architecture Month opens with a live talkshow from the garage underneath the Kruisplein. Entirely on theme of the Undercurrent, the month opens with a discussion about the space in the city in unexpected places and how the undercurrents and upper currents of the city relate to each other.

With moderator Geert Maarse, we will discuss this with various Rotterdam design agencies. As the city continues to densify, it is important to stay connected. Innovation, imagination and architectural quality are important here. Values ​​such as sustainability and fairness play an increasingly important role in this. What does high-rise mean in terms of space in the city? What space is created and what space does it occupy? What innovations are taking place with regard to typology and new construction methods? In this conversation we explore the lower and upper currents in the city and we are taking the first steps towards making these visible during the coming Rotterdam Architecture Month.
