Post ’65 ins & outs

Top 10 iconic buildings of the seventies and eighties

This is a Dutch-spoken event.

On 7 June, the focus is on architecture from after 1965. Network Post ’65 Rotterdam and the Heritage Office of the city of Rotterdam are joining forces and present a Top 10 with the most typical buildings and places from the period of urban redevelopment, urban renewal and so called ‘cauliflower’ neighbourhoods in Rotterdam.

What are iconic or typical buildings and places from the period after 1965 in Rotterdam? What are unmistakable signs of that time and what do they represent? This session is a search for what future heritage from the period 1965-1990 can be and how we should look at it.

Programme

City makers from the fields of art, architecture, landscape and heritage reflect on the Top 10 most typical buildings from after ’65. They add their own top choices to the list of 10. That also means: one in, another out.

Under the leadership of moderator JaapJan Berg, the panel and the audience discuss the motivation of their choice, what story it tells and why the place or building is so special, and why the city should cherish just that one place or one building from the Post ’65 period. Go here for an overview of Post ’65 buildings in Rotterdam and contribute your own top choice!
