What is the festival heart?
The festival heart consists of three enormous floating containers that are approximately 76 meters long and 11 meters wide. In one container, visitors can enjoy the greenery in a temporary park and immerse themselves in lectures, debates, films, and other events. Another container is entirely dedicated to urban sports such as freerunning and calisthenics. There is also an exhibition. The floating structure is a concept of the Rotterdam-based architectural firm Studio Marco Vermeulen.
The route
When you visit the festival heart, you will walk a walking route over the water. The containers are connected to each other by a walkway, which also serves as an elongated viewpoint. The route is simultaneously an outdoor exhibition that informs you in an accessible way about the possibilities of building on water, the value of street culture for urban development, and the importance of greenery for a growing city. This way, you get a unique view of Maashaven and the rest of the city, and you can see the possibilities of water.
Program
In the festival heart, you can also attend a program, such as lectures, films, performances, and events. You can find an overview of the program per day here.
