This is the floating festival heart: pictures of the opening day

Published on: 07 Jun 2023

As a nautical tradition, Rotterdam Architecture Month was opened on June 1 with a bottle of champagne against the ship’s side by Alderman Said Kasmi. Designer Marco Vermeulen explained the how and why of the floating festival heart in a short lecture and opened the exhibition. Performances by Jaskelis, M.D.B., Keesje and the Brass Band School created a festive mood. We also heard from producer Bas Mastboom, Edwin Meeusen of Eurobarges, Giovanni Palumbo of Dutch Steigers and Onur Eren of RUSH world what was involved in preparing and building the festival heart. Check out the photos from the opening day here!
