Expert Session: Rotterdam Property Designers Pool

In the autumn of 2026, the Municipality of Rotterdam’s Designers Pool will celebrate its second anniversary. When the municipality commissions a small-scale design assignment, the project is awarded to one of the designers in the pool. This gives talented emerging architects and design practices the opportunity to gain experience through small and medium-sized commissions. During this session, the municipality will engage with the design sector to evaluate and further develop the initiative. Together with designers and clients, participants will reflect on how the Designers Pool has been used and what it has achieved.

During this afternoon symposium, students and recent graduates will present research and design work based on studies of historical architecture, both in the Netherlands and internationally. The event aims to facilitate the exchange of knowledge and methods related to typological research. Following the presentations, there will be an informal gathering and further discussion.
