Become a volunteer at the festival heart!

Do you want to be a part of the largest architecture festival in the Netherlands and help shape the future of the city? Register and join our team during the Rotterdam Architecture Month from June 1st to 30th!
In 2026, the Rotterdam Architecture Month has chosen M4H. This is an area currently undergoing transformation from a port and industrial zone into a mixed urban district. M4H has been designated by the municipality and the Port Authority as Rotterdam’s key circular development area, where innovative manufacturing, living, and working come together. This makes it the ideal location to test the challenges of circularity on a smaller scale.
The Materials Depot, designed by Studio ACTE, will function as the central hub: a place where supply and demand for materials meet, and where residents, designers, and builders connect. It reveals how many links are needed to enable reuse. At the same time, it is a place of discovery, where materials are revalued. The construction of the depot itself also demonstrates what circular building can be: flexible and composed of reused elements.
This year, the festival heart of the Rotterdam Architecture Month consists of two linked components:
– We are building a Test Site Material Yard in the Keilekwartier in collaboration with Studio ACTE and Rotterdam Circulair
– The exhibition in the Keilepand, which we are developing in collaboration with the Keilecollectief.
Together, these components form a substantive whole: outside, where work is done with materials, while inside, the possibilities for collaboration are explored.
What do we ask?
We could really use your help from June 1st to 30th. This year, we are looking for volunteers who enjoy delving into the theme of circularity, so that you can take visitors along in the story of the Materialenwerf and the exhibition. The volunteer coordinator will, of course, take your availability and preferences into account. The volunteer coordinator will do their best to take your availability and preferences into account.
As a volunteer, you will:
- be the point of contact for visitors and you can speak enthusiastically about the theme of circularity,
- support the programme in and around the festival heart;
- assist at the information desk;
- scan tickets;
- welcome speakers and guide the audience.
