Roll up your sleeves and develop your circular skills during the workshops of Rotterdam Architecture Month. Give tiles, cable trays, or even earth a new lease of life—or discover and taste what urban nature has to offer.
Roadside feast
Together with experienced forager Lara Egbring of @therootoflife, you will discover during the Wild Foraging Walk just how much edible food grows around us. You will learn how to identify wild plants safely and how to use them in the kitchen. And, of course, there will be an opportunity to taste some of them at the end.

Workshop From earth to compressed earth blocs
During the practical course From Earth to Compressed Earth Blocks, Studio ACTE will teach you how to transform locally sourced soil into building material. Discover the basic principles and sustainable applications of this technique.

Recovering a used tile
The Test Site Materialenwerf was designed by Studio ACTE, a practice dedicated to exploring resilient and regenerative architecture. Craftsmanship, geo-sourced materials, and radical reuse are at the heart of their design process.
In keeping with this philosophy of reuse, they are leading a workshop in which you will learn how to give used tiles a new life.
Everyone is welcome, participation is free, and no prior registration is required.

Circular Seating
Archiklas uses architecture as a tool for inspiring lessons, workshops, and other activities at the intersection of cultural, scientific, and technical education. At the Test Site Materialenwerf, they are hosting the creative drop-in workshop Chair Circular Challenge for children aged 5 to 15 (and their parents). You will design a chair using reclaimed materials and explore where those materials come from—just like a real architect.

Straight from the Gutter
Wood and textile workshop Vierkante__meter organises interior design workshops centred on leftover materials from Rotterdam. During Rotterdam Architecture Month, they are hosting the workshop Straight from the Gutter, where you will transform used cable trays into a new piece of furniture or household object. You can follow an existing design or create your own.
